2. PHYSICAL INSTALLATION
- Place printer on a flat, level, stable surface — leave 300mm clearance above to open cover fully.
- Connect power cable: printer ➔ wall socket.
- Connect USB cable: printer ➔ Windows PC / Laptop.
- Toggle power switch ON — green status LED illuminates.
3. DRIVER & SOFTWARE SETUP
Driver Installation
- Download driver & software from link supplied with your order.
- Run installer — select:
ZDesigner ZD220-203dpi ZPL
- Go to Control Panel ➔ Devices and Printers
- Right‑click printer ➔ Printing Preferences
- Media Type: Continuous
- Print Method: Thermal Transfer
- Width: Match your label material width
- Speed: 4 in/s (102 mm/s) — recommended starting point
Software
- Install label design application — follow setup wizard
- Recommended: Install Zebra Printer Setup Utility for calibration & diagnostics
4. LOAD RIBBON & LABEL MATERIAL
Ribbon Loading
- Open top cover fully.
- Place ribbon supply roll on rear spindle.
- Thread ribbon under printhead — ink‑coated side facing down toward labels.
- Attach ribbon leader strip to front take‑up core.
- Rotate take‑up core 2–3 turns by hand — ribbon taut, flat, wrinkle‑free.
Label Loading
- Mount satin label roll on media spindle.
- Feed leading edge through side guides ➔ under printhead.
- Adjust side guides — touch material edges lightly, do not pinch.
- Close cover ➔ press Feed button — one label advances cleanly.
5. LABEL DESIGN & TEST PRINT
- Create new label — dimensions = exact width × length of your material
- Keep all text, symbols & graphics 1.5–2 mm clear of all edges
- Recommended font size: minimum 6pt; sans‑serif for best durability
