It's a common problem when your towels lose their softness and become stiff - but there's an easy fix to make them fluffy once more with a simple laundry hack.
If you cram your washing machine too full, your towels might not have enough room to rinse properly, leading to a soapy residue that hardens the fabric over time. Cassandra, a cleaning guru and the brains behind Frugal Family, has pointed out that an excess of laundry detergent can also make towels feel less than cosy.
She explained: "The washing detergent you use to wash your towels can build up in the fibres of your towel and will gradually make your towels less fluff and more rough, and will mean that they're not as absorbent as they once were." But don't fret there's a quick and straightforward method to restore your "cardboard" feeling towels to their former glory, using just two common kitchen staples.

Cassandra advised: "Non-fluffy towels are super easy to fix though and just need a couple of things you'll probably already have in your kitchen store-cupboard white vinegar and baking powder." So how does it work?
Thanks to its acidity, white vinegar can soften towels by breaking down the alkaline detergent, allowing the towels to be thoroughly cleaned once again. Moreover, vinegar acts as a natural fabric softener, relaxing the fibres in the towels, making them feel much softer after treatment.

Firstly, gather all your stuff towels and place them in the washing machine, but ensure not to overload the drum. Next, add 240ml of white vinegar to the detergent drawer, and refrain from adding washing detergent or fabric softener. Then, wash on a hot 90C cycle and once the wash has finished, do another high-temperature wash but this time add 200g to the detergent drawer.
Your towels should already feel much better, but ensure to dry them outside in the sun or a gentle setting in the tumble dryer. Once the towels are dried, they should be fully revived and as fluffy as the day you bought them.
Cassandra added: "The towel refresh wash should remove all of the soapy residues from your towels and in most cases, should make them much softer again but sometimes it might take a couple of washes to see the difference depending on how far gone your towels were".
Absolutely loved my printing machine from theses guys. Will be ordering again very soon!
