How to deal with fraying edges? There are a couple of different options to consider, you could chose a firmer material that doesn't fray, with our Fray Resistant Satin, Nylon Taffeta and Polyester Taffeta, these materials can be sewn in just with 1 cut end/edge and leave 1 edge loose. Perhaps the only disadvantage of these materials, as they are firmer, are more likely to cause irritation to sensitive skin, and with alot of care labels sewn in to clothing (often in the neck of a garment or on the inside touching the skin) the preference would be a softer material, which helps reduce irritation. The problem with softer materials? They have a tendency to fray. The most common way to deal with this, is fold the labels in half (creating a small loop) and sew both the cut ends in, stopping any chance of fraying. But what if you only want to sew in 1 end? Then you will have to consider a tool that can gently heat/melt the ends to stop any fraying. The most cost effective solution to this, is a pair of hot cutting scissors. These scissors heat up to very high temperatures and are very straight forward to cut fabric materials, instantly sealing the ends/edges. Although it can be a little time consuming to cut the labels by hand, you wont have the worry about the loose ends fraying. If you are interested in having the label ends cut, we can do this, please contact us to esquire about costs email@example.com
