As a result, our materials Manufacturer after extensive research and development Garment Care Labels in conjunction with the materials manufacturer and are very pleased to be able to offer a range of ribbon products that are manufactured using 100% recycled Polyester Yarns.

These yarns are manufactured using only post consumer waste. The waste in question comes from the recycling of clear plastic bottles that are made from PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate). The bottles are collected through a large network of collection point across China and South East Asia . The collection and sorting of the waste bottles is carefully controlled. People local to the collection points are paid for the bottles they collect, so not only does this process stop millions of bottles being buried in landfill sites or dumped in the sea, it also provides the opportunity for local people to earn an income.

The bottles are then thoroughly cleaned to remove all residues, old labelling and bottle caps. The clean bottles are then shredded into small PET flakes. These are then melted down to form a liquid, which is forced through very small holes (extruded) to form a filament as it cools. The filaments are then combined together to create yarns of the correct specification for use in a wide variety of textile applications. The process from bottle to yarn is controlled and authenticated by GRS (Global Recycled Standard).

We strongly believe that the use of recycled yarns has numerous social and economic benefits. It helps promote sustainability and allows Companies to use this to promote their own social and environmental awareness.

This material is available in various widths in white and can be printed with our specialist wash care inks, with colours including Black, Red, White.
